EF Camp & Welcome days

Hey folks,

how are y'all?

I'm already back from Ireland, enjoying my last week of summer holidays before school starts again, but I still want to tell you a bit about Camp & Welcome days where the new exchange students of class of '17 started their great adventure.

So as you read in the first article "The EF Camp" it is a unique opportunity for the new students to get into speaking English, to make international friends and to settle down a bit before actually going to their host families. And Camp is as well a lot of great craic. We did so many different activities from the Maynooth Olympics where I ended up soaking and covered in flour (it was hilarious) to watching movies and a karaoke night. One of the highlights was definitely Tayto Park which is an amusement park with loads of rollercoasters. Nearly everyone got their face painted and it was a pretty sunny day as well. One afternoon we taught everyone how do to Irish dancing and of course we danced the EF dance as well. I presume we did so every day :) The final evening of camp we had an amazing talent show where the students performed to their best! The show was awesome.

And then Welcome days started and we welcomed all of the new students genuinely. The campus was filled now - well 250 students compared to the 39 campers are a lot :) The first day after their arrival we had a info session where we prepared them for their exchange and we ambassadors shared our experiences and tipps with them. In the afternoon we had different sessions where they learned the EF dance or had little discussion games ect. It was a lovely day and god, it was so sunny ^^ The next and last day we went to Dublin city which everyone seemed to be looking forward to. First we had a little tour at Trinity's and then we enjoyed Dublin on a bus tour. After that the students had free time and I enjoyed the sun together with Isa, just chatting. It was a marvellous day in Dublin and everyone loved it. And a perfect last day I'd say.

After a farewell speech we wished everyone the best for their exchange. Some photos were taken, we danced the EF dance and thanked everyone again. And at this point I want to say once more: Thank you very much for these lovely days at Camp & Welcome days.
